Tips For Writing A Corbett ResumeWhen employers are looking for your previous career, they will look at your current job and how you got there. This is called a core file, or a 'default' file when you apply for a job. There are some fundamental components of a good Corbett resume that will make the difference between landing that first interview and landing a job interview that was always your first choice. The following are a few tips to keep in mind.Where you came from: What field did you come from? For example, did you work in the health care industry, did you work in banking, or did you work in government? You need to make a Corbett resume that is specific to your field. Your interviewers do not want to have to guess at what you did, so you should make your Corbett resume as descriptive as possible. Include references that are directly tied to your position.Background: Ask your interviewers if they are familiar with your background before they call you back. Is it an impressive b ackground? How would they describe it?Skills: Explain exactly what skills you have and why these are relevant to this job. Most employers are looking for skills, not for someone who will help you get the job, and will know what your duties will be once you start. Show them what you will be able to bring to the job and show them how you got it.Business Experience: If you have not worked in a position that was related to your current field, then how did you get where you are now? For example, if you went to graduate school to study, ask your interviewer about this. Did you work in a part time role as a postdoc? Or, did you get a job in another place and then moved to your current job?Interview Experience: Have you done anything like this before? Most people that do interviews think that this is an interview question but actually it is another one of those elements of a Corbett resume that employers are looking for.Previous Business Experience: Have you held any types of leadership pos itions? What did you do there? Was it your degree program or was it a previous position?The biggest mistake that I have seen was for candidates to forget to put all of these things on their resume. This makes them sound unprofessional and unqualified. It is up to you to make sure that you are filling in every element on your resume.
